Roxanne Smee
I am an Integrative Counsellor for adolescents and young adults aged 12-25. My expertise lies in providing a calm, regulating environment for young people during periods of distress, whilst empowering them with essential tools for self-regulation that can be integrated into their daily lives.
In my work, I encourage a sense of self-acceptance and self-worth through a gentle exploration of their sense of self… in other words, what it means and what it feels like to be them.
I work psychotherapheutically, supporting my clients to access and process emotions and experiences that may be hindering them in achieving a fulfilling and enjoyable life during this critical and often vulnerable neurodevelopmental phase.
When words do not suffice, I use art therapy and somatic (body) awareness in my sessions. This might include painting, drawing, music, play, clay, drama and movement… These creative forms of expression have proven to be highly effective in enabling my clients to articulate their feelings, process their experiences, and begin to heal from past trauma or a troubling emotional state that is impacting their lives.
I am experienced in supporting young people affected by a wide range of mental health challenges including anxiety, grief, self-harm, and questions about identity, as well as those who simply find life and education overwhelming and need someone to talk to.
