Relationships play a crucial role in our lives, especially romantic ones. But do you find yourself repeating the same behavioural patterns? Are you drawn to partners who aren’t right for you or even toxic? Perhaps you experience anxiety in relationships, always worrying, “Why haven’t they called?” Or maybe you feel suffocated by a partner’s neediness, leaving you yearning for space. Or are you someone who finds it difficult to set boundaries, letting your partners take advantage of you? If you feel vulnerable in relationships and struggle with asserting yourself, you’re not alone.
When our relationships are dysfunctional, it can lead to low self-esteem, anxiety, stress, and depression, which can also affect those close to us, like friends and family. Toxic relationships can cause a loss of identity and self-worth.
I can help. I specialize in working through all these attachment behaviours and have helped many clients cultivate healthier, more fulfilling relationships.
Family: While you can choose your friends, you can’t choose your family! This saying rings true for so many. Family dynamics are often complex. Do you find it challenging to connect with a siblings or other family members? Is your family making you unhappy? Many of us struggle with family relationships, but there is often a path forward. By discussing your feelings and emotions surrounding your family, we can work together to help you navigate these feelings.
Change: I once had a vibrant career in music, but in 2010, the industry shifted, and I lost my career. This change plunged me into depression, and I found myself in a very dark place. However, as I trained to become a counselor, I realized that a life crisis can serve as an opportunity for a reset that can bring about positive change. Are you going through something similar? Have you recently had to re-adjust your whole life? Do you find change difficult, perhaps even frightening? Let’s work together to help you navigate change and embrace the unfamiliar.
