I am a Counselling Psychologist in my final year of training (2022) and a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and BPS (British Psychological Society).
My training is underpinned by combining Counselling with the rigour of Psychology. I currently specialise in CBT, Person-Centred and Psychodynamic approaches to therapy, although I tend to work integratively. This means that I use a range of therapeutic techniques, underpinned by both theory and research to best suit the needs of the client. Each client is unique and my aim is to honour that by avoiding a one size fits all approach.
I aim to offer a safe and calm approach that is rooted in compassion and understanding to fit your needs, difficulties and concerns.
I work specifically, through a non-judgemental, warm, accepting, authentic therapeutic relationship with each person to aid them on their journey to recovery, in order to gain a better sense of self to reach their full potential. I firmly believe that evidenced practice should be at the heart of therapy and I aim to work with all my clients through a collaborative therapeutic relationship.
My work experience includes, Medium-secure Psychiatric hospitals, NHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health service), children’s homes, schools, private outpatient eating disorder clinic, low-cost counselling services (One in four, Highbury Counselling centre and The Awareness Centre). I have also worked with families in parenting assessment units, as well as a volunteer for The Samaritans (4 years). I have experience with working with clients with, depression, grief/loss, anxiety, eating disorders, OCD, low self-esteem, phobias and trauma.
The initial consultation gives you the opportunity to explore your reasons for seeking therapy. This includes, talking about your present difficulties, background history and other relevant information. Most importantly, this is an opportunity for you to identify your hopes and expectations of therapy. If you wish to proceed, we will agree to meet on a weekly basis at an agreed time.
I offer 12 sessions initially, in addition to the initial consultation. For those who would like longer term therapy that is also an option.
